A member asked:

I have a broken leg and missed my daily enoxaparin shot, for a whole 24 hours. could a blood clot have formed in that time? i'm very worried.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and No, probably: No! no one definitely knows. Traditionally teaching is blood clots develop between 5-14 days. An injury to veins, or prolonged immobility from the injury can cause it. Drinking enough fluids, exercise your toes & knee/hip & breathing exercises help. Being on enoxaparin but just missing a dose will probably not cause you a clot. Better to see your doc, who can examine you.
