Rectal blood: Bright red blood on toilet paper or dripping in the bowel is usually hemorrhoids or a fissure. Hemorrhoids are usually sore but not exquisitely painful unless thrombosed (in which case you'll feel a tender hard lump). Fissures usually are extremely tender. Persistent bleeding, blood mixed in the stool or coating the outside should be checked asap for a serious condition.
