My 8 month old woke up this morning with one ear red hot and swollen. its her outer ear, mostly the lobe, dosnt look to go inside the ear. what is thi?

Follow this am: People often tell me that their child's ear is red, then we end up diagnosing ear infection later in the day/week. However, i think it's also common that kids ears are red b/c they sleep on them or maybe b/c kid has a fever. If redness persists, especially w/pain or fever, good idea to have it checked.
