Only part of the ans: You are describing a common issue that varies by degree in all of us.If it is very noticeable, it is sometimes called hemi-facial microsomia. This occurs when both sides of the facial structure don't develop equally. Improvements can be made by building out the under developed side. This may require the areas of oral surgery, facial reconstructive surgery and orthodontics.

Maybe Ortho, Maybe N: Orthodontics can fix many minor to moderate jaw asymetries (or at least make them manageable), especially using new techniques with bone screws, plates, and minor surgery. However, some patients are still outside of the range of what's possible with orthodontics, and will require orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery). It depends on the severity, and what you and your dentist want out of the results.
