Pancreas: Lipase is a little bit more specific than amylase but both can be elevated in acute or chronic pancreatitis. They are often ordered to evaluate the cause of abdominal pain along with other tests.

Lipasa/Amylase: Those are related to pancreatic function , perform essential participation in the digestion. Frequently, are high in pancreatitis , (pancreas inflammatory process )diabetes, some type of cancer, tumors, gallbladder infection, kidney failure .Make sure to tell your dr. If you are taking medications over the counter, some times medications and over the counter meds can increase levels.
