Maybe not: Minor sore throat is often from a viral infection which is not affected by antibiotics. If you have a fever and a significant sore throat, you may have strep throat, which needs to be evaluated and tested (cultured) by your physician.

See dentist: The abscess may be coming from an infection in yor tooth which won't go away if you need a root canal penicillin may only control it not eliminate the problem.
