Better treatments: If you have a herniated disc a support belt might make you feel more comfortable (particularly if you need to lift with a bad disc) but it's probably best to work with a physical therapist to strengthen the muscles that support your spine making your own internal "support belt" it might be that external belts actually weaken underlying muscles but they can't undo a disc problem.
