A member asked:

My rheumatologist says i am "false negative for c-reactive protein", because she can plainly see that i have inflammation. why am i false negative?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Other blood proteins: The CRP is affected by a variety of inflammatory proteins in the blood, in some patients other markers of inflammation such as the esr, ferritin, ssa, platelet count or transferrin may better reflect the level of inflammation. The other possibility is that you have localized inflammation that is not enough to raise the crp, children with some types of jra (few joints) never have high crps.
