Possibly both: Patch testing is very useful for identifying a contact allergy on the skin. It may be helpful for identifying foods with eosinophilic esophagitis. With foods, it is more controversial . Discuss this with your physician.

It may: Patch testing for allergic contact dermatitis is well established. Patch testing for foods is still considered experimental, but there are suggestions that it correlates better with some cases of atopic dermatitis (allergic eczema) and eosinophilic esophagitis. In short, it may be helpful in your case.
