A member asked:

What causes high cortisol levels other than cushings disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Brain, cancers: Cortisol production is regulated by the hypothalmus and pituitary gland in the brain. Overproduction of hormones from these brain glands can cause increased production of cortisol.Likewise certain cancers like lung cancer can produce hormones similar to these brain hormones which can cause increased cortisol production.
