Get it evaluated: Possibilities are several including tendinitis, a sprain or arthritis. Get it evaluated and then you will know.

Ankle pain: Pain in the ankle could be many reasons when there is no trauma or remembered trauma. Gout is common for males at your age, other possibilities, arthritis, impingement syndrome, peroneal tendinitis, stress fracture, ankle ligament strain, etc. Hope that helps, if pain is moderate to severe, may be best to seek out your physician.
