Can a 5.4 cm fibroid sandwiched between the bladder and uterus cause bad pain? 65 yrs old and having pain for 1 month in the lower left abdomen. have had 3 d&c's in the past for problems. hysterectomy needed?

It definitely can: Other causes aside from fibroid cannot be ruled out. Your best reference regarding decisions about hysterectomy will be your Gyn and/or primary care doc who can look at films in dynamics/ progression and try to link them with your symptoms and physical exam.
