Part of tongue: Folate (folic acid) papilla are located on the sides and towards the back of your tongue. You need to pull out your tongue to see them. They are not taste buds, but they are covered with taste buds. The name comes because they are supposed to look like leaves of a book on its side.

Roughness: The filling may be rough to your tongue but not visible. Please your dentist to smooth and check for any roughness. Lateral (side) border of your tongue has projections that sensitive to the current condition.

Shape of papilla: Foliate papilla are the leaf shaped papilla on the top of the tongue. There are also filiform and circumvallate on the tongue
