HCV/HIV transmission: Transmission through skin contact has been reported in only a few cases. It requires a significant amount of blood exposure from the infected individual & a large open wound or seriously chapped and cracked hands in the recipient. That 's why intravenous or needle stick routes are so much more efficient vehicles for transmission. Hcv is 10 times more transmissible than HIV via these routes.
