Multiple reasons: An elevated ESR can be seen in a number of infections or inflammatory conditions. Infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, TB or other infections can all elevate esr. Also rheumatic and autoimmune conditions can also elevate esr. See your physician who may order blood tests and other labs to diagnosis the underlying disease process and recommend appropriate treatment.
