Yes: If you eat more protein than your body needs it will convert to fat. I don't think diets are the answer. If you need to loose weight then sit down and make a list of what and where you eat and start making changes. Start by learning to cook food, and appreciate great food. Learn your portion sizes- use a kitchen scale. Diets don't work - lifestyle changes do. Good luck.

Only eat to excess: If you follow the diet as intended, it will help you burn stored fat. You would have to moderately (or more) exceed the diet plan's recommendation for daily calorie intake for your age/height/build to gain fat that way.
