More importantly....: First, it is more the expertise and diligence of the dentist or hygienist than which instruments are used to scale, root plane\clean hard deposits off tooth structure. Dr. Davantzis explained the actual differences already. Both can work equally well. Different clinicians have their own preferences. Both are often used in conjunction for best results.
