Not the cause: Ludwig's is a serious infection that has spread to the sublingual or submandibular space. Deep scaling is a form of mechanical treatment that removes buildup that is supportive of periodontal infection. While inadvertent trauma theoretically could introduce periodontal bacteria into that space, the real cause is the very bacteria that scaling seeks to remove. Monitor this closely under supervision.

Yes/yes: It would be rare but possible for this to occur. But if you are on aumentin, this would certainly prevent it. Ludwigs angina is an advanced infection that starts small and gets advanced with lack of medical care.
