Decreases effect: Milk thistle (used for liver cleansing) and xanax (alprazolam), as well as other prescription medications for anxiety are both broken down by the same enzymes. Using milk thistle within 4 hours of taking xanax leads to a decrease in the effectiveness of xanax.
