Not recommended: and I hope you were informed that you should not have been taking it while pregnant. All benzodiazepines have some risks in pregnancy, but Xanax (alprazolam) has the greatest risk of causing serious birth defects. With breastfeeding, the baby may get some of the drug and it can result in sedation. Talk to your pediatrician and pharmacist about this asap.
