My husband was diagnosed with gout but his uric acid level was only a 7. how is this possible?

7 still high: A serum uric acid level of 7.0 is still elevated. The ideal level is less than 6. Your husband should be on Allopurinol to normalize the uric acid level and the gouty attacks will likely cease.

Depends: On when blood was drawn, often high uric acid will not show for 2weeks during an attack. 7 is still considered high. Ideal is under 6.
