Drain abscess: Regardless of the cause of your abscess, drainage is the correct therapy for abscess. It is understandable to be upset. However, stay in good communication with your surgical team, have a support person to help you. The culture will be helpful for directing antibiotic therapy. Okay to ask if you will have a drain or need wound care. Good luck.
