Gout and diet: Principally meats and most importantly, avoid organ meats; fatty meats and alcohol are doubly potent against gout. Avoid these. Also, if you are able, drink at least 3 liters fluid per day - this may enhance uric acid excretion - and if you incline your diet successfully to mostly whole grain, fruit, and veggies, using egg white for protein, then your uric acid levels will come down even more.

Diet not important: Diet has little effect no matter what others may say. If you control your uric acid level with Allopurinol then the risk of gout is minimal. Watch alcohol intake.

Low purines: Google low purine or gout diet to see the foods low in purines to eat and those high in purines to avoid. Purines are important in making uric acid, the cause for gout. If you do not secrete enough uric acid or over porduce uric acid, you may come down with an acute gout attack. Force fluids, always. Stay well hydrated and follw this diet as best you can. Follow with pcp/ with rheumatologist.
