A member asked:

I got badly sunburnt on my back and my scars look swollen and puffy. is this just because of the sun exposure and how long will it take for them to reduce back to normal size?

If you have scars...: From sunburn, first, stay out of the sun. Scars are often raised when they are immature and improve with time, though this make take 6-12 months. In that time they are susceptible to repeat sunburn. More importantly, if they are tanned, they may tan permanently. Use a sunscreen with an spf number of at least 15 that is waterproof and re-apply often. If the scars worsen, see your doctor.
