Emotional trauma: Is the primary cause of ptsd. Fear and horror are much more relevant than physical injury. The threat of injury or death is just as harmful as actual injury (obviously actual death would eliminate ptsd). Also, emotional trauma can cause many things besides ptsd, such as depression and other forms of anxiety. All effects of emotional trauma can benefit from psychotherapy.
