That depends: What you define as an extreme trauma may be different from what someone else considers extreme trauma. Depending on your personality and coping skills prior to the traumatic event, the same event might be experienced as extreme by one person and not by another. Ptsd by definition is a reaction to trauma. So there must be some level of trauma.

Yes, Accumulative, : Complex trauma that is chronic in nature can lead to development of ptsd even if not necessarily life or limb threatening or horrific.
