Could you please describe folic acid and is it good for you?

Folic Acid: Is a b vitamin. When taken for 2-3 months prior to conception, and continued throughout pregnancy has been shown to decrease the incidence of fetal neural tube defects (which is a defect in the brain and/or spinal cord) in pregnancy.
