Calculate:: Take your weight in pounds = 170, multiply by 10 to get 1700 (for your resting metabolic rate) and add to that 10 to 30 % depending on your level of physical activity, i.e. 170-510 calories. The average for a man is 2100 calories per day. Below that puts the body into starvation mode. The more muscle the more calories you will burn.
