CBT: This is an easy one >> cognitive behavioral therapy. It works wonders for those unhealthy ruminations and distorted thoughts.

Rumination...: These thoughts have to be replaced by other things, the more you "try to stop ruminating" the more you are just going to be focused on those ruminations, paradoxically. Living life is the best antidote, although not easy. Find things that are highly rewarding and interesting and involve yourself in them. Seek treatment, as said by other doctor, CBT is effective, and sometimes medication.
