Manage your diabetes: Currently there is no cure, and no surgical cure for diabetes in teens, aka type i diabetes. However, management is available and significantly better than ever, and getting better all the time. Help focus your teenager on best management. The quality of life and life expectancy is near normal with management. Check out medronic diabetes and symlin (pramlintide). Don't give up.

See below: There are two types of surgery being currently tried for type i diabetes. This is transplantation of a new pancreas, and transplantation of the islets in the pancreas (cells that make insulin) neither procedure has a great success rate. Research is ongoing.
