However, management is available and significantly better than ever, and getting better all the time. Help focus your teenager on best management. See below: There are two types of surgery being currently tried for type i diabetes. This is transplantation of a new pancreas, and transplantation of the islets in the pancreas (cells that make insulin) neither procedure has a great success rate. Research is ongoing.
