Not usually: Type 2 diabetes is due to a combination of inadequate insulin production by the pancreas, but also a problem with insensitivity to insulin in the other tissues around the body. Patients with type 1 diabetes typically only have the insulin production problem, and therefore transplantation is used for these patients. Medications and lifestyle modifications are generally effective for type II.

NO: Type 2 is not cured by a pancreatic transplant and is not a option. The issue is not that there is no insulin but more that insulin doesn't work.
