Calculation: This refers to how many of the calories in a dish come from the fats in it. If a cookie is mostly butter with very little sugar or flour, it derives most of its calories from fat.

Fat: calories come from protein, carbohydrates and from fat. Of the total calories in a meal, calories from fat tells you what amount of the total calories is coming from fat. Health guidelines recommend no having more than 30% of the total calories from fat to prevent heart disease and stroke. The type of fat is important as well. Good fats include olive oil, less preferred are saturated and trans fat
