My wife has a lump in her breast and a doctor advised her to undergo biopsy. i that a safe procedure?

Incorrect: A breast biopsy is a safe and routine procedure. What is not safe is avoiding a biopsy if your doctor and radiologist have recommend one. Any procedure can have complications, but the risk of the procedure is vastly outweighed by the risk of missing a possible cancer. Discuss your concerns with your doctor. Good luck!

What: kind of biopsy? Usually needle biopsies are performed with image guidance. There is a very slight risk of infection, as in any procedure. If you are referring to a surgical biopsy, there are small risks associated with anesthesia and other aspects of the surgical procedure.
