Keep it simple: Use plain soap and water gently to clean in and around the wound. Pat dry gently. The problem is finding something to "stitch" the wound together that is not carrying a lot of dust, dirt and stuff. Plain thread would work but you increase your risk of infection with it. Better to cover the open area with a clean cloth and get to someone who can do what really needs to be done to maximize healing.
