Keloid treatment: Keloids are often treated with either surgical removal, steroid injections, topical agents or laser. Chemotherapy agents (5-fu) and radiation may also be used. Keloids have a high recurrence rate after surgery, so be sure to follow surgery with repeated injections (such as with steroids) and silicone gel sheeting to prevent recurrence.

Severa options: There are a number of treatments for keloids. We have had good luck with surgical removal of the entire keloid (for example, on the earlobe) and then injections of steroid directly into the scar from the excision beginning 3 weeks postop and continuing every three weeks for a total of 3-4 injections. Other treatments include pressure and low dose radiation. See a board certified plastic surgeon.
