I have what my cardoilogist says is benign, my heart will be at a normal rate for a few weeks then randomly be around 100-120 bpm. i don't understand.

Benign in this: Context means that it will not progress to any abnormal rhythm that could lead to cardiac arrest. If your cadiologist is not worried, neither should you.
