Sonohysterogram: Uterine (endometrial) polyps are formed by the overgrowth of endometrial tissue. Polyps range in size from a few millimeters to a few centimeters. Although usually benign, polyps can cause irregular and/or heavy menstrual periods or bleeding between periods and even fertility problems. About 0.5% of uterine polyps contain cancerous cells.
