Different surgeons: Will have different approaches. Best to research the doctors capabilities and go with whom you feel most comfortable. Discuss pros and cons extensively. Sorry there is no simple answer. Hope this helps.

Tmj Surgery: Get as many different opinions as you can before you undergo surgery. Surgery is a last resort. You may want to seek someone out who has been trained in neuromuscular dentistry for another opinion. Many times splint therapy or an orthotic utilized for a long period of time, can help mange the symptoms with out surgery.

Scope vs OpenSurgery: Unilkey a third arthroscopy witl help if 2 previous scopes did not resolve the problem. Without knowing all details, i would say if you have a true displaced disc, which is causing your symptoms, open surgery a better choice.

Disc Displacement : without Reduction. This condition is characterized by displacement of the disc on closing followed by a failure to reduce the disc on opening. Failure to reduce the disc warrants consideration of other alternatives. While surgery was the only recommended treatment in the past, studies have shown that many patients are able to function without pain even when the disc is permanently displaced.
