Saline spray: Not too many products have been shown to be effective in treating nasal congestion in a 2 year old. Generally, the best strategy is to physically remove the drainage by using a saline nasal spray to either flush the material out or to help loosen it so that the child can sneeze or blow it out. The use of a cool-mist vaporizer can also be helpful at night.

Cause: Nasal saline spray may be used effectively in this age group. Determining the underlying cause is important, consider allergic rhinitis and sinusitis on follow up with your PCP.
