DNA testing: With the understanding that I am not an expert in this field & that some practicing periodontists might be able to give you a more comprehensive answer: i believe we are in the early phases of using this technology to better serve our patients. I don't think knowing exactly which bacteria are present will change the need for flap surgery & extraction when necessary in the vast majority of cases.
