Causes of anxiety: I would consider thyroid function if that hasn't been done yet. Cortisol is another thing to consider. I usually check these more for depression than anxiety, but vitamin d, vitamin b12, and folate are other blood tests we check when we feel there is an underlying cause to mood presentations.

Why a blood test ?: I would like to ask this question to you, and bring the discussion up to my colleagues. Why a blood test would explain the presence of panic attacks? Maybe a physiological explanation will be necessary to justify them, but looking for a blood test to explain them may not. Using medical technology when not necessary, brings up costs, and it does not add to understanding the nature of illness.
