Speak with DDS: Speak to the dentist or periodontist that performed the surgery. Was bone /membrane added to the area? There are many variables. Did the dentist suggest an implant as an alternative? What is the treatment plan to replace the portion of the tooth removed?

Don't Worry: Your specialist is trained in dealing with soft tissue defects. Let the area heal and then re-evaluate.

Wound healing: I'm guessing that you had an apicoectomy? With those procedures, the external surface of the gum as well as the internal bone usually heals with little or no external defect. Other types of flap procedure may be more likely to result in some external defect. Regardless there are procedures nowadays to repair any defect. Let it heal and speak to your own surgeon. I wouldn't worry.
