A member asked about a 25-year-old male:

what is the incubation period for aids?

HIV infection: This is probably the wrong question. There is no 'incubation' period. If you get infected with HIV you are infected with HIV and must be treated to prevent the immune destruction that leads to aids. Now, from exposure to full on infection is usually a fourteen to twenty-one day process. The new HIV viral tests can be 100% accurate at day 21 or later.

2 to 6 days: The incubation period (time between exposure to the bacteria, by a bite or by inhaling the germs, and the development of the first symptoms) for bubonic plague is 2-6 days, and for pneumonic plague is 2-4 days. Less commonly, the incubation period for pneumonic plague can be 1-6 days... which is important, because pneumonic is fatal if treatment isn't started within 24 hours of first symptoms.

Several: The lions club in major cities runs a 'low vision clinic' with a selection of visual aids. It will depend upon your needs as to what is best for you and they have samples to try. There is also a new electronic device which looks like an iphone which you place on the print and it enlarges the image on the screen facing you. The lions can help you with this also.

Can you catch aids from public toilet?

Dr. Joram Seggev

Unlikely: It is not impossible, but is very unlikely that you will catch anything from a toilet. Most people who claim that they were infected with an STI in a restroom say so to avoid telling the true cause (having had sex).
