A member asked:

Over what period of time if someone has hiv or aids will they began to feel or sense a difference in there self and what are the bodily effects/signs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Variable: It depends upon the rate at which their immune function is affected, as commonly measured by the rate of depletion of CD4 lymphocytes. The symptoms experienced will depend upon the development of opportunistic infections or malignancies or both. All this is dependent upon whether or not they are treated. Treatment, if adhered to, is highly effective in preventing these problems.
