Only you would know: Hurt and harm are two different things. There is no harm in trying whatever aerobic fitness you desire. If comfortable, then continue. If painful, you need to decide if the end result is really worth it. I would suspect if you have sciatica from a disk problem, sitting would be worse than a treadmill. On the contrary, if spinal stenosis, then bike would be much better tolerated due to flexed back.

No, not Realy: Exercise such as walking or cycling are excellent for bulging discs and pinched nerves. There is more pain with an inactive lifestyle than moving safely toward a reasonable goal of 30-60 minutes of aerobic activity / day. Posture is important. Cycling can be easier on the knees but walking is superior for balanced muscle use. Good luck.
