A member asked:

Why does low ferritin cause too many platelets?

It doesn't: Ferritin is a marker of inflammation and also an indicator of iron stores. It is related to erithrocytes, red blood cells, but not to platelets, thrombocytes. I've not seen the correlation you describe in real practice.

Iron deficiency : Low ferritin = iron deficiency. Iron deficiency is frequently associated with high platelet count. The cause in not known to me. It should resolve on taking iron supplement.
