Yes x 2: Yes and yes. Obscure GI bleed could also be caused by a large hiatal hernia (diagnosed with upper GI contrast study) or a small bowel tumor (diagnosed on ct scan).

Yes & no: A colonoscopy could certainly detect moderate diverticulosis in the sigmoid colon however diverticulosis almost never a cause of obscure GI bleeding. It is usually overt & very obvious especially when coming from the sigmoid colon.

Colonoscopy: one 4mm polyp in the sigmoid colon. Removed with cold snare. Resected and retrieved. Diverticulitis in the transverse colon and in the left colon. MD says follow up in 5 yrs. What does that mean? Am I ok?

Abdominal x-ray showed colon thickening. Colonoscopy came back fine. No diverticulitis, etc. Could the X-ray have been wrong or what could have been seen on x-ray that colonoscopy missed? This was x-ray and not a CT. GI did not appear concerned?
