A member asked:

Colonoscopy: one 4mm polyp in the sigmoid colon. removed with cold snare. resected and retrieved. diverticulitis in the transverse colon and in the left colon. md says follow up in 5 yrs. what does that mean? am i ok?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Polyp: If the benign polyp was an adenomatous one, the next colonoscopy is recommended to be in 3 years, but your gastroenterologist who knows all your findings is best to advise you. I assume that only diverticulosis was present as diverticulitis means active inflammation/infection is present. Your gastroenterologist can give dietary advice for diverticulosis. Be happy with your findings and treatment.
