Generally self heal: The eardrum has the potential to self heal over a few days to weeks if the injury is small enough. Monitoring can be done by your pcp to see if the process is proceeding. If too large to self heal the ent's can either patch it or rebuild it. An office visit would help define your options.

ENT and hearing test: Any child who has had trauma to the ear drum should have a formal hearing test to make sure they did disrupt the hearing. The perforation will usually heal on its own. Of note, q-tips should not be used in the ear. The ears are self-cleaning for most people. The rare person with excess wax build-up should see a physician and not try to clean it themselves.
