A member asked:

So i was told my daughter has a dull eardrum what does this mean? is she losing her hearing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dull eardrum: A dull eardrum usually indicates there is a little fluid in the middle ear space. It does not always mean an associated infection. Ear drum usually is like plastic wrap - you can see through it. Dull ear drum looks more like waxed paper. There may be a little transient hearing decrease when fluid present in middle ear, but usually not permanent. Needs ongoing follow-up with doc to make sure better.
